Super Simple Date Paste- Natures Sweetener!

Vegan, Gluten-free

Finding a substitute for refined white sugar isn’t always easy. While there are many options out there, not all of them are a great choice for your health. That’s why I like to make this date paste!! I can use this to sweeten my smoothies, add to lattes, baking and cooking. But before I move on can we just talk about medjool dates for a minute? I mean these little chewy elliptical balls of mouth watering caramel tasting fruits are a gift from god! And here is why…….

  • Dates have a tremendous amount of potassium and help soothe sore muscles. This is why this paste is great to add to post-workout smoothies
  • Fiber: they contain around 12% of your daily requirement for fiber- so they will make you poop. And thats a good thing 🙂
  • They contain several trace minerals necessary for your body to function effectively, including manganese, copper, magnesium, iron and B6!
  • HIgh in anti-oxidants
  • They taste delicious

It ‘s really easy to make date paste, as long as you have a high powered blender at home.
The first thing you need to do is make the dates nice and soft, and soak them in some water. I find using boiling water much quicker and just as effective as soaking them overnight in regular water. When you remove the dates from the water make sure you DO NOT discard the water! We want to keep some to add to the blender to make the paste. When blending the dates into a paste, make sure to stop and scape down the sides often to ensure it comes out nice and smooth.
Now if want it to have a vanilla sugar flavor, sometimes I add in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. But this is totally optional.

Store in your fridge in an airtight container, and use as desired!
ENJOY! xoxox
