Gluten free, Dairy-free, Vegan
There is nothing I enjoy more than Nutella. Nutella on everything and in everything! Nutella is really a common household item in an Italian home, and I grew up eating it just like peanut butter. Slather it on to a big chunk of Italian bread and away we go!
But there is this little problem with that conventional jar of Nutella you buy at the store. First of all it is FULL of sugar, and it is not good to have too much sugar in your diet. Secondly, it contains palm oil, and today palm oil production is the largest cause of deforestation of tropical rainforests. Sad. I know. So let’s eat it for special occasisons only okay???
But if you are craving that devilish combination of chocolate and hazelnut, look no further than these cookies! They taste so much like Nutella, are healthy, chewy, soft and mouth watering good. The best part is they are easy to make!

Dip these Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies in a fresh cold glass of Almond Milk
For this recipe, I used bought Hazelnut butter. Most local stores carry it now, and I get mine from Bulk Barn if you live in Canada. However making homemade Hazelnut butter is a cinch, click here to make Nadia’s Hazelnut butter.
The great thing about this recipe is that it is sweetened with maple syrup, which I often use in my baking since it adds antioxidants into your diet as well has a whopping amount of Zinc and Maganese! These cookies are also:
- Gluten-free
- Dairy-free
- Refined-sugar free
- Vegan
I roll these cookies into small balls before pressing them down with a fork twice in oppositie directions. This reminds of the way the classic peanut butter cookies looked the way my grandmother made them!
